Want to start a business? This event is for you. Join Virgin StartUp as we host a panel discussion with a selection of Scotland’s top entrepreneurs as they reveal how they started their business and give tips on how you can start yours.
Sir Brian Souter founder of StageCoach, Gurjit Singh Lalli founder of TedX Glasgow and Margaret Coughtrie will be guests on our all star panel. They’ll be delivering insight on why now is a great time to start a business in Scotland plus their views on how you can take advantage of this opportunity.
We'll be looking at everything from how to fund a business idea, how to validate a business idea, how to attract customers and more!

Sir Brian Souter, founder of StageCoach
Sir Brian Souter (62) is one of the UK's leading entrepreneurs and transport innovators. He is the co-founder and Chairman of Stagecoach Group, the international public transport operator, which runs some of the UK's most recognised transport brands and is a market leader in delivering greener, smarter travel. Sir Brian is architect of the company's philosophy and, along with his sister, Ann Gloag, founded the company in Perth, Scotland, in 1980, with just two buses. His vision, entrepreneurial flair and innovative ideas have transformed Stagecoach into an international market-leading business.
Listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1993, Stagecoach Group operates around 13,000 vehicles and rolling stock and employs around 40,000 people in the UK, United States and Canada.
Gurjit Singh Lalli, founder of TedX Glasgow
TEDxGlasgow. invites curious individuals and leading thinkers to come and share experiences and ideas that stimluate positive change.
Winner of the Business Man of the Year award at the Scottish Asian Business Awards.i am the founder of several companies. My professional and personal experience spans the America's, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.I have a particular interest in the application of philanthrocaptialism and developing social venture capital funds.And in my free time im the curator of TEDxGlasgow.
Margaret Coughtrie has been a professional public markets investor for most of her career as a hedge fund and portfolio manager. She became interested in start-up business seven years ago when she sought a solution to sluggish economic growth. Since that time she has been an active business angel, business mentor and researcher in the early stage capital market here in Scotland. She is co-author of an economic impact study on Archangels , Scotland's, and most likely the world's, oldest angel syndicate and is currently pursuing doctoral research at the Hunter Centre of Entrepreneurship at the University of Strathclyde with a focus on enterprise growth, policy and economic impact.
