The Cynefin® framework helps us make sense of situations so that we can more effectively guide our decision-making and management approaches. The framework can be applied by individual contributors and team leads at the operational level as well as by C-suite leaders at a strategic level.

Virtual Cynefin® Basecamp (formerly Cynefin Foundations) training delivers a comprehensive introduction to Cynefin with a focus on application. Currently offered in a highly engaging virtual environment, this course is a “must do” learning opportunity for those new to complexity and Cynefin®. For those who are well-read in the subject but want to refresh their knowledge, this course offers an opportunity to engage with others in learning about Cynefin practices in today's context.

  • Four 3-hr virtually facilitated sessions.
  • Meeting environments:; virtual whiteboard (i.e., Miro, ConceptBoard, or equivalent); Google Slides / Docs
  • Course pre-work and in-between session study: Video lectures, reading (instructor / geography dependent)
  • Instructional language: English

Participants will develop hands-on experience in applying Cynefin across a range of applications including -

(1) organisational change and transformation,

(2) improved decision-making, and

(3) creating conditions for innovation, organisational resilience, and leadership effectiveness.

(4) managing in times of uncertainty

This virtual course offers an enhanced interactive virtual learning environment, where a cohort of attendees from diverse backgrounds, embark on a learning journey about how to apply Cynefin® and related methods in their organizations.

This course is designed for people who work in constantly-evolving, dynamic situations, dealing daily with uncertainty and risk, and looking for an enhanced compass for building organisations that are both resilient and innovative. Whether you work in an organisation navigating intractable problems or are a consultant looking to include complexity principles into your practice - or if you are simply complexity-curious - this Virtual Cynefin® Practitioner Foundations class is for you.
