About this event

Thank you for taking part in Dying Matters Awareness Week 2021. This year, we are focusing on the importance of being in a good place to die.
Where people die is changing. More and more people have been dying at home in recent years. And the pandemic has seen this number leap by tens of thousands.
There is no right or wrong place to die; it will be different for everyone. But it is important for people to think about it, to talk about it and to plan for it.
We want people of all ages to be in a good place when they die – physically, emotionally and with the right care in place.

At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

Death Cafes are always offered:

- On a not for profit basis

- In an accessible, respectful and confidential space

- With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action

- Alongside refreshing drinks and nourishing food – and cake!

As this Death Cafe will be online, sadly you will need to provide your own tea and cake. We wholeheartedly encourage you to do this, if you want to and are able to.
