Virtual Future Heroes
Event Information
About this Event
The 2020 Hertfordshire Health and Social Care Careers Expo, 'Virtual Future Heroes', will display the wide range of different career options available within the health and social care sectors.
Just like our expo event our virtual version is completely free to join and will provide young people and their tutors with a rare chance to discover careers in the health and social care sectors through a week-long series of webinars which will include inspirational talks, demonstrations and activities aimed at helping young people visually bridge the gap between what they enjoy doing and what they could potentially do as a career.
Professionals working within the broad spectrum of careers will be joining us during the week, so you will be able to hear first hand from the people doing the jobs, what it takes to become a Health and Social Care Hero.
As well as interactive displays on the careers available, students will be able to find out the different education requirements and options to successfully land a career in their areas of interest, with talks from the University of Hertfordshire and local apprenticeship leads.
Students and Tutors attending the virtual expo will be able to:
• Find out about different career disciplines
• Hear from leading staff working in those areas in Hertfordshire and west Essex, and hear what working life is like
• Find out what the Health and Care Academy can offer including virtual work experience opportunities sign up to work experience in different disciplines to make that all-important different on application forms
• Hear about the different educational routes into the professions and get tips on how to make their application a success
We would consider the event useful from year 8s making their first choices of subjects through to 6th form and college students seeking advice on university or apprenticeship opportunities and applications, and of course everyone in-between!
As well as interactive webinars on the careers available, students will be able to find out the different education requirements and options to successfully land a career in their areas of interest, with talks from the University of Hertfordshire and local apprenticeship leads.
There will be two 1 hour live webinar style sessions hosted each day – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each webinar will focus on one of the professional groups just like the stalls at the main event and include demos and interactive activities as much as possible.
We ask that schools register for the event rather than individual students so that we can include as many as possible on the online session - if you would like advice on this please email Academy.hwe@nhs.net
We look forward to seeing you!
(Published 24th November - To keep the sessions interactive we are unfortunately unable to recorded the event as previously advertised, session content will be available after the event and we will be posting information on the academy social media accounts during this week)
