Event description
Calling all art teachers in Hackney & Islington primary schools!

About this Event

The “Newington Green Meeting House: Revolutionary Ideas” project and the Hackney Museum are launching an exciting project, “Get Crafty”, to celebrate the life and work of Mary Wollstonecraft, Britain’s first feminist and famous local resident.

We are asking school students in Hackney and Islington to create a piece of art inspired by Mary’s story and her time at Newington Green – and this event will help teachers understand the scope of the competition and how they can encourage students to enter.

Ten entries, which will be shortlisted by a panel of judges including the “Fandangoe Kid” and the Mayor of Hackney, will then be displayed at the Newington Green Meeting House in 2021. The winner will receive a £150 art supplies voucher courtesy of the Wollstonecraft Society and their artwork to be on permanent display in the Meeting House.

Find out more, meet the team, share your ideas and ask any questions at our online session for teachers. We will send you a Zoom link via email on the day of the event
