Virtual Introduction to the Teaching Assistant Role (VITAR)
A two day course designed to help new TAs without much relevant experience appreciate essential classroom approaches and the strategies to deliver them. The course covers:
Day 1:

Qualities and Skills (inc. Removing Barriers to Learning)
Expectations & Assertiveness SEND,
Jargon & Intervention
Supporting and Monitoring
Progress
Feeding Back to Pupils
Current Learning Approaches
Differentiation
School Assessment Types
Day 2 (in common with Day 1 of the Virtual Introduction to the Cover Supervisor Role):
Safeguarding (inc. Safe Working Practices)
Behaviour Management
Summary
The course is designed to be completed BEFORE new TAs with little experience are placed in accordance with compliance guidance.
Note! Please ensure that you VIEW and ACTION the accompanying documents sent separately to this virtual training BEFORE it starts.
*IMPORTANT! You will need to book on to both Day 1 and Day 2 of this course separately and complete them to gain certification. Please ensure that you will have access to a space with a minimum of interruption / distraction for each of the two days of the course.
