We are all working in exceptional and unprecedented times, working virtually and often at arms-length from your clients mean that more than ever, going the extra mile with excellent customer service will be paramount in your support and can really make a difference to owners , practice life and crucial client retention. Equine loss is tough at anytime but during these added times of hardship it can be even tougher for owners to cope. Providing the best practice support techniques and tools can make all the difference.

In this engaging and essential 5 hour CPD training workshop, running on a number of dates, we will provide you with an updated view on horse loss and grief in these current times. We will equip you and/or your teams with the support tools to feel confident in providing the best possible service from a wealth of topics like quality of life, euthanasia and self-care.

The sessions will also provide an excellent networking and knowledge sharing opportunity through an invaluable Q&A session and case study discussion.

Overview and content

Equine loss, bereavement and grief

In this interesting and useful training day we will explore an understanding of the impact of horse loss on individuals and how this is perceived by society. Responses to grief and an overview of the grief cycle, including the stages of grief, in addition to the types of grief commonly experienced by horse owners.

Supporting your clients and how this affects client retention

Discussion of appropriate approaches to supportive communication with clients, the challenges you may face as an individual and as a practice.

Quality of life discussions

Sensitive discussions and how to manage these to best support your clients.

Supporting clients or yourself through equine euthanasia

Guidance and the opportunity to share ideas on best practice during end of life, pre, during and post-euthanasia.

Importance of self-care

This will focus on the importance of emotional resilience, the negative impacts of compassion fatigue and burn out and how to look after yourself and one another within the practice.

The sessions will provide opportunities to develop ideas and emotional support skills through case studies and discussions. On completion a 5 hour CPD certificate will be awarded.

Proposed format for day:

Cancellation policy

You can cancel your booking within 14 days of confirming your place without charge (provided your course hasn't started).

If you cancel your booking more than four weeks before the start of the course, we only charge a £30 cancellation fee to cover our costs.

If you cancel your booking between two and four weeks before the start of the course, you will receive a 50% refund if your course fee is more than £60. If your course fee was less than £60, we will charge a £30 cancellation fee, and refund you any remaining balance.

If you cancel your booking less than two weeks before the start of the course, you won’t get any refund.

Depending on the circumstances we may offer an alternative to a refund, such as enrolment to an alternative course.

In exceptional circumstances, we may need to cancel your booking. If we do, we will always try to offer you a suitable alternative. If you choose not to accept this, we will offer you a full refund.

Requesting a deferral

If you would like to be considered for a deferral to enable you to complete any outstanding work, you should make the request, at the earliest opportunity, to plstraining@bluecross.org.uk

We will charge a £30 administration fee for all deferrals, payable before being enrolled onto the next suitable course.
