Dr. Polly James, Clinical Psychologist and Prof. Rosan Meyer, Paediatric Dietitian have worked for many years in a variety of settings with children with feeding difficulties.
They are joining forces to offer virtual parent group session for feeding difficulties in 1-4 year olds that may include:
- Refusal of specific food groups (i.e. vegetables)
- Spitting out of foods
- Extended mealtimes
- Child requiring distraction to eat
- Eating only specific foods
On registration, parents will receive the following information to be completed prior to the virtual group meeting:
- 1 Lecture of 25 min on the reasons that feeding difficulties occur
- 1 lecture of 55 min how to manage feeding difficulties at home with practical tips that can be implemented prior to the virtual meeting.
There will be a 1 hour virtual meeting with both Prof. Rosan Meyer and Dr. Polly James, that is limited to 8 parents. This virtual meeting allows for parents to share their personal experience and pose further questions unique to their child's feeding difficulties that have not been covered in the lectures.
Parents will be sent a post meeting assessment and once this has been completed, they will receive also a short handout with a summary of tips to help them manage their child's feeding difficulties.
The content of this virtual course has not been developed for children with sensory integration disorder or ARFID.
