Virtual Reality Day
Date and time
Description
Come and experience virtual reality in Oxfordshire County Library's Makerspace!
You'll have the chance to create your own VR world, try out brilliant content from the BBC, and see some amazing VR projects.
There'll be BBC content to try out on an Oculus Go on the day (for ages 13 and over) including powerful content from the Democratic Republic of the Congo where you can visit an overgrown jungle palace, and enjoy a heart-racing encounter with gorillas.
Another experience includes the comedy People Just Do Nothing.
There'll also be another chance to try out local VR developer Charlie George's Oculus Rift experience.
Charlie scans public spaces in Oxfordshire and turns them into 3D environments to explore, and our HP Sprout 2 computer allows 3D scanning of objects. Come and try out an Oculus Rift and bring an object to 3D scan and then see it in VR.
We'll also have Oxford Brookes University demonstrating their augmented reality Reading Machine.
Booking is essential for the object scanning and Oculus Rift experience. Children should be accompanied by an adult. If you have any medical concerns regarding the use of VR headsets please seek advice from a medical professional.
