Schools are invited to join us (free of charge) online for a very special virtual event with bestselling author, Emma Carroll (Letters from the Lighthouse and Secrets of a Sun King) as she presents her spellbinding, deliciously new gothic adventure Dracula & Daughters.
As part of this 45-minute interactive schools’ event, students will join Emma for a fang-tastic delve into the dark beginnings of the vampire myth, where she’ll share the gothic inspirations- including books, movies, stories- behind Dracula & Daughters. Expect castles, graveyards, garlic and… the unexpected! Schools will also have the chance to put questions to Emma during this special event.

About Emma
Once told by the poet Ted Hughes her writing was 'dangerous', it took Emma Carroll twenty years of teaching English and a life-changing cancer diagnosis to feel brave enough to give her dream of being an author a try. Nowadays, she's a bestselling writer, and has been nominated for and the winner of numerous national, regional and schools’ awards - including the Books Are My Bag Readers' Award, Branford Boase, CILIP Carnegie Medal, Young Quills, Teach Primary and the Waterstones Book Prize. Emma's home is in the Somerset hills with her husband and two terriers. She still can't believe her luck that she gets to write dangerous books for a living.
Waterstones Virtual Author Visits are the perfect opportunity to encourage reading for pleasure, introducing children to new books as well as fabulous author & illustrators, and to help inspire a love of reading even in the most reluctant readers.
