Virtual Scotland - On the Trail of Robert Burns
Event Information
About this Event
Celebrated every year at Burns Suppers across the globe, Scotland's national bard took inspiration from the landscapes of his homeland. Admittedly he took as much inspiration from the ladies that he encountered during his short and sometimes tumultuous life.
From Burn's birthplace in a humble cottage in Alloway, we will head out across Scotland to explore the places that inspired his poetry and lyrics. Closeby to his boyhood home he would have heard the witch-stories that transformed themselves into Tam o'Shanter. Two years living at Mossgiel Farm saw a phenomenal burst of creative energy and some of Burns' most memorable poems - Holy Willie's Prayer and To a Mouse. Fame, and notoriety, followed before his untimely death at the age of 37. Your virtual tour ends in the county town of Dumfries where we sing Auld Lang Syne besides Burns' mausoleum in St Michael's churchyard.
