Virtual Tour - Art Deco Theatreland
Event Information
About this Event
Between the years of 1924 and 1937 many theatres in Central London were constructed or remodelled in a spectacular style we have come to know as Art Deco.
In particular, eight new theatres were completed within 13 months, spanning October 1929 to November 1930, with opening nights often being within a week of each other.
This live presentation takes you on a virtual tour of twelve* impressive theatres and, using photographs and maps to illustrate the details and locations, I'll talk about the unusual design features and the architects who created them. You'll see how the decorative styles of that era changed and adapted over time.
After the tour the meeting room will stay open for questions and discussion.
Please note, this is not a video experience – it is a presentation – I talk about the subject whilst showing you slides containing images and maps.
Details for how to access this event will be on your booking confirmation which will be sent via email after you have purchased your ticket(s).
Customer feedback: "...really interesting and your knowledge is amazing! Thank you" ... "delightful" ... "I look forward to visiting [these] with new eyes"

My guiding style is inclusive, open and friendly. I design and research every tour myself – in fact, the research never ends. The tours I offer are all on subjects I am genuinely interested in – each highlights a different facet of my personality. I am particularly interested in the architecture on our ever-changing streets and the little details on and above them.
