About this event

This sixty minute virtual tour explores the buildings of London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

During the medieval period Barking was home to one of the most powerful religious houses in the country - you can still see the ruins of Barking Abbey today. Another medieval survivor is Valence House, home to the borough museum. After the Abbey's demise Barking saw the building of beautiful Eastbury Manor House , one of London's best Elizabethan buildings.

Down by the river Roding you can see the buildings associated with Barking's huge fishing fleet.

During the 20th century the borough became industrialised with the building of the huge Ford works, Barking Power Station and the Becontree Estate built to house Ford workers.

Rob will also talk about the buildings that are being built in the borough today.

Whatever your taste in buildings, you are bound to find something you like on this virtual tour, part of a series on the best buildings in each London borough
