About this event

This is a virtual tour conducted live hosted via Zoom video conferencing where your guide will show slides and give a talk to accompany them. There will be the opportunity for questions both during and after the talk.

==================================================================

London has numerous closed and abandoned railway lines and stations. Some have completely vanished leaving no physical trace, such as Holborn Viaduct and Broad Street stations in the City whilst in other places there are tantalising reminders of the past, such as Crystal Palace High Level and Spa Road Bermondsey. In some cases no longer needed railway buildings have found new uses as can be seen at Denmark Hill and Merton Park. Join Stephen as he roves across London and shares with you many of the lost and forgotten railways of London.

Reviews (September 2020)

"What was, and sometimes still is, explained by an expert!

The "Passengers no more" tour hosted by Stephen Benton was very interesting and informative. I was especially interested in the bit about Broad Street station as I used it way back in the 1960's when I lived in London."

"Really enjoyed Stephen’s virtual tour “Passengers No More” (with excellent photos) of some of London’s lost railways – can’t wait for his next talk on the ones he didn’t have time for…"

"Enjoyed the virtual tour of “Passengers No More – Lost & Forgotten Railways of London” with Stephen. Plenty of interesting facts and illustrations. It is obvious that it is a subject of particular interest to Stephen and I look forward to any future tours covering this subject by him. Thanks."
