Virtuoso clarinettist Julian Stringle
Overview
clarinettist Julian Stringle
“The best clarinettist to emerge in British jazz for decades” Sir John Dankworth
Julian has established himself as one of the most versatile clarinet and sax players around. His award-winning clarinet playing in particular is widely recognised as some of the finest in Europe, and with his contemporary approach he has demonstrated that this most traditional of instruments can be successfully deployed in a modern context. Widely respected on the UK scene he includes work with the likes of John Dankworth & Cleo Laine, Peanuts Hucko, Wild Bill Davidson, Jim Mullen and Digby Fairweather. As well as performing Julian has also written over 30 TV jingles and documentary film scores and was taken to Paris to arrange and conduct a Big Band album for Charles Aznavour.
