Visible Mending Workshop
Event Information
About this Event
Do you have some jeans that are need of repair? What about a denim jacket that is looking a bit worse for wear? Have you ever wanted to learn the basics of clothes repair?
Join our denim repair workshop from the comfort of your own home to learn from our expert fixer as they share their amazing repair knowledge with you.
In this online workshop via Zoom our textile repair expert will give examples of how to repair your denim and field questions from you on repair so you can fix as the session is happening.
What do I need to join the workshop?
- A sewing needle - denim is a thick fabric so a universal needle of size 90/14 is best
- Thread in similar thickness to that of what you are repairing. You can try and match the colour and thickness of the item, or choose a different colour for a more visible looking mend (example below)
- A jean patch - if your hole is a little bigger, you might need a patch. Ideally the same weight as the denim of your jeans or find a denim scrap in the same color
- A connection to Zoom - ideally you would have a webcam so you can show the instructor your progress and ask questions
- And, of course, an item to mend
Once you register, we will send you out the zoom link. This event is ticketed because there is limited space so if you can't attend please let us know at least 3 days in advance. If you have any questions regarding your item, get in touch with LC on hello@remade.network, feel free to send pictures of your item so we can get a better idea of what we are repairing together.

Remade Network campaigns and trains communities to set up reuse and repair centres. Our vision is to make repair education affordable to all - we will be developing more online workshops for you.
The Repair Stop is our newly opened pop-up shop at 21 Nithsdale Street, Glasgow. This is the first iteration of Remade Network in Glasgow and is a collaboration between grassroots community groups Govanhill Baths, Repair Café Glasgow, Glasgow Tool Library. The Repair Stop offers the local community a place to save their items for going to waste through repair & learn in the process.
