Interactive workshop exploring how to measure success of volunteering in health and care settings

About this event

Join us on Thursday 9th December at 9.30-11.30am for a workshop that will help inform England’s Vision for Volunteering; a cross-sector consultation designed to develop a shared, actions-focused ambition for volunteering. The consultation is led by NAVCA, NCVO, Volunteering Matters, the Association of Volunteer Managers, and Sport England.

Workshop topic: Measuring success of volunteering in health and care settings’. In this workshop we will explore how success is measured when it comes to volunteering in health and care settings. We’ll discuss the positive impact that volunteering can have in these contexts, before sharing ideas about the evidence we need in order to demonstrate this. How can evidence be better collected and shared to inform commissioners?

Dr Soo Nevison (CABAD) and Patrick Vernon (Ageing Better) are delighted to be hosting this workshop.

Dr Soo Nevison is the CEO of Community Action Bradford & District. She has worked in infrastructure for over 15 years, spending part of this time serving as a Trustee for NAVCA and as the SRO for the VCSE work in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership.

Patrick Vernon OBE is currently Associate Director for Connected Communities at the Centre for Ageing Better, Non Executive Director of Birmingham and Solihull ICS and Chair of Citizens Partnership for Healthcare Investigation Branch (HSIB). Patrick is also Honorary Professor of cultural heritage and community leadership at Wolverhampton University.

We are committed to ensuring that the Vision for Volunteering accurately reflects the entire volunteering community, and are therefore taking steps to make these workshops (and the wider consultation) as accessible and inclusive as possible. We are continually reviewing the process and are open to learning and insight.

This workshop forms part of a workshop series that will enable us to achieve these outcomes, investigating volunteering through 6 key themes:

  • Healthy Ageing
  • Climate Emergency
  • Resilient Communities
  • Employment & Skills
  • Young People Leading change
  • Health & Wellbeing (this workshop sits here)

NB: We kindly ask that you only sign up to one of the Health & Wellbeing workshops, and that organisations only have one representative. We also ask that you sign up to a maximum of two workshops across the 6 themes. The capacity of our workshops is limited, and this will help us make sure that as many voices are heard as possible.

Through insights from these workshops and the wider consultation we aim to shape a Vision for Volunteering that enables inclusive, accessible and valuable volunteering in England. For further information, please visit our website.
