Visions of the Future, 1800-1914: Website Launch Workshop

Please join us for the launch of the project website for the British Academy funded project, 'Visions of the Future, 1800-1914'. By collecting together a range of historical images of the future from online and archival collections, and collating creative and scholarly responses to them, this project explores how people in the nineteenth-century imagined the future and why this matters. We want to ask: how have previous visions of future environments, technologies, social relations, and more informed our own ability to imagine or make futures today?

The event will include:

- Some short (one might even say 'micro') talks from project members Dr William Tullett (Anglia Ruskin University); Dr Hannah Murray (University of Liverpool); and Dr Ruth Morgan (Australian National University) about the images that we collected.

- Talks from two of the ten Anglia Ruskin University students who produced their own creative response to the images that we collected: Sarah Strachan and Ayeshah Zolghadr.

- A chance to flex your own creative muscles and come up with your own response to the images that we have curated on the website (and, if you're feeling up to it, to share them with us).

We hope you'll join us for a fun evening thinking about futures past, present, and future (future futures, so to speak).
