Background: The bioeconomy offers southern Europe the opportunity to catalyse social, technological, and economic transformation towards inclusive, smart and sustainable growth. This event will be a platform to strategically reflect on the potential of the Bioeconomy development in southern Europe in the context of the revision of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy. We will discuss policies, innovative commercial uses for forest resources leading to the creation of new markets as well as visions, opportunities and challenges that southern Europe has regarding the bioeconomy.
The event will take place at the Kursaal Congress centre and registration on the day will open at 8.30 am. The seminar closes at 14.00.
Speakers include: Esko Aho, former prime minister of Finland and Special Advisor of EFI; Marc Palahí, Director, European Forest Institute; representaives of the European Commission, USSE, Basque Government, North Karelia Council, and then representatives from business clusters as IAR from France, P-Bio from Portugal or Baskegur from the Basque Country.
