Event description

Description

The Worshipful Company of Carpenters was formed when the City of London was built of timber, receiving its Royal Charter from Edward IV in 1477. Although the Carpenters’ Hall was undamaged by the Great Fire, carpenters suffered as many timber buildings were rebuilt in brick and stone. The company’s links with the trade were weakened, but focus was increasingly placed on its ceremonial, business and charitable functions. Today, it continues to support a broad range of charitable and educational functions, encouraging the highest standards of craftsmanship. This tour is led by the Beadle.

Includes tea/coffee.
