Event description
Visit Royal Holloway and find out more about our Arts, Humanities and Social Science courses on Saturday 19 and Sunday 27 June 2021.

About this event

Due to the measures needed to keep everyone safe in light of Covid-19 it is not possible to run a full Open Day on campus this summer. However, in order to provide an opportunity to visit campus in-person, we are offering a number of covid secure Visit Experiences.

These Visit Experiences offer you an informative and personalised experience of what Royal Holloway is really like. During your visit you will have the opportunity to:

• Speak with staff from departments and key services

• Explore our beautiful campus

• Speak with current students

In order to limit the number of people on campus, there will only be selected subjects available on each day. The Visit Experiences taking place on Saturday 19 June and Sunday 27 June are open for the following departments only:

• Classics

• Drama, Theatre and Dance

• Economics

• English

• History

• Languages, Literatures and Cultures

• Law

• Media Arts

• Music

• Philosophy

• Politics and International Relations

• Social Sciences

For any other departments, please check our other Visit Experience events (taking place on Sunday 20 June and Saturday 26 June) aimed at courses within Business and Management and the Sciences.

Please note that booking is compulsory and unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate anyone who has not booked in advance. We’ve been working hard to make sure our campus is safe following the current rules and guidance on social distancing. You and your family/household group will be given a tour of the campus by a Student Ambassador. If restrictions allow, you may be joined by one other household group. Visits will last for approximately an hour and will give you lots of useful information about Royal Holloway and help prepare you for student life.

We encourage all visitors who book a place to take a rapid lateral flow test before travelling to these events. This can be done at a number of locations local to you, or ordered to your home. Please see the government website for more information on how you can access these. (Please note, Royal Holloway will not be able to provide these tests for visitors).

Our staff and students will be wearing face coverings throughout the event. Face coverings are mandatory for guests whilst inside our buildings (unless medically exempt), and strongly recommended throughout the entire visit. Please bring your own face covering as we will not be able to provide them.

If you need any more information about our Autumn Visit Experiences, please email us at campus-tours@royalholloway.ac.uk or call on +44 (0)1784 414112.

Please note:

Each group booking must be from the same household; bookings must not include people from multiple households.

In order to safely move visitors around the campus we will operate a one-way system throughout your campus tour.

We have an accessible tour route, please let your Ambassador know if you need to avoid any stairs and take this step-free route.

What will my Visit Experience look like?

Arrival

You’ll arrive on campus for your pre-booked arrival time (don’t worry, we’ll remind you of your start time by email and SMS a few days before your visit). We understand it can be tricky to predict your travel times so we’ll be as flexible as possible, but may ask you to wait in your car if you are early or miss your slot, until we can fit you in.

At the main entrance to campus, staff will direct you to one of the two car parks being used. We’ll be spacing guests out across these car parks so please do follow the directions given to you, as it is likely to differ from the car in front of you.

Registration

Once you’re parked, please make your way as a household/family group to the registration gazebo in the car park. You’ll be asked to queue in groups, maintaining a two meter distance between each group. We’ll have hand sanitiser available at designated points across campus and encourage you to use this.

We’ll check you in (don’t worry, you don’t need your ticket, just your name), and provide you with a goodie bag to help you with your visit.

Campus tour

Your ambassador will take your household group on a guided tour of campus, which will include the key buildings and facilities available to all students, as well as some areas more relevant to your particular department. If restrictions allow, you may be joined by one other household group.

Appointments

When you’ve finished your tour, your ambassador will take you to the location of your first appointment, if you’ve booked any. Each advice stand will be allocated an individual area so they can easily distance from your household.

Once you’ve completed your tour and appointments, you’ll return to your car park and you’ll be all set to head home.

Frequently asked questions

Do my guests need a ticket?

No, your guests do not need their own tickets, but when booking a student ticket you will be asked to let us know how many guests you will be bringing. All guests do need to be from the same household.

Will there be a programme for the event?

There will be no set programme for the event- you will be offered an opportunity to book appointments with academic or advice services when you arrive. These will take place after you have been on your campus tour.

What if I'm travelling by public transport?

We encourage all guests to use public transport with caution, adhering to government and service provider guidelines. If you do use public transport, there is a bus that runs from Egham train station to our campus. In this case, you will be directed to the nearest car park registration point.

How can I change my details on the Eventbrite booking system?

You can amend your booking by logging on to the Eventbrite website by clicking ‘Tickets’ from the drop-down menu under your name, select the ticket and then 'edit'.

What if myself or a member of my family requires an accessible tour route?

If you require a step-free campus tour route, please let your student ambassador know on the day.

To find out more about general accessibility on campus, please view our AccessAble profile on the Royal Holloway website.
