Going into the autumn and winter we are focusing on “the home”. We are extremely fortunate in having such a beautiful building as a base for the Museum. Over centuries, Honeywood was a home to people who lived and worked here, and who shaped and developed the building over time, resulting in the house we have today.

Fairies' Christmas Party

Until 19th December 2020

Titania and Oberon oversee the Fairies’ Christmas Party at Honeywood Museum. Come and see how many fairies you can spot and see how they make fun and mischief in the Drawing Room. Installation by members of Sutton South Hello.

At Home in Honeywood

Until 27th February 2021

Going into the winter we are focusing on “the home”. We are extremely fortunate in having such a beautiful building as a base for the Museum. Over centuries, Honeywood was a home to people who lived and worked here, and who shaped and developed the building over time, resulting in the house we have today.

At Home in Honeywood will see enhanced information on the original uses of the rooms. Did you know the shop used to be a dining room? It will also pick out and highlight interior decoration, features and furnishings, exploring the wealth of detail that we have. Have you noticed the roses and ivy decoration on the Edwardian door furniture?

There’s No Place Like Home

Until 27th February 2021

There’s No Place Like Home will exhibit works from the Museum Art Collection highlighting people’s homes from the 1800s to the 1960s, including a group of work by Carshalton resident Sheila Ellis which has not been previously displayed. The exhibition will include three new short films of Honeywood, Little Holland House and Whitehall, which have been made in collaboration with Open House London.

*At Home in Honeywood and There’s No Place Like Home are the result of a collaborative project between London Borough of Sutton Cultural Services and The Friends of Honeywood Museum. They are also kindly sponsored by The Friends of Honeywood Museum.

Honeywood Embroidery Group Exhibition

This group of very talented and creative embroiderers have been meeting at Honeywood Museum for a number of years. Sadly their regular meetings at Honeywood have been impossible over the last few months, but the group have kept in touch and kept stitching, and we are very pleased to host a display of their work. Also on show for the first time, a beautiful Honeywood hanging that they have gifted to the house. We are grateful to the Friends of Honeywood Museum for sponsoring the framing of this exhibit

What will my visit be like?

Your safety, and that of our staff, is our highest priority. That’s why we’ve introduced timed visits to stagger entry flow and help with social distancing. Visits are 1 hour in duration and for a maximum of 6 people in one group. Combined with a new one-way route and enhanced cleaning regime, including hand sanitisers on entry, we are pleased to be welcoming our visitors back safely.

Please note face coverings are a mandatory requirement for visitors to wear during their visit.

When booking a ticket:

1 ticket per group per day (max. 6 from a single household).

What facilities are there at Honeywood Museum?

Toilets will be available to visitors. Disabled access is available on the ground floor only. An independently run takeaway tea room service is available, with limited tables by the ponds. We cannot guarantee a table will be available.

About Honeywood Museum

Honeywood Museum is a Grade II listed building next to the picturesque Carshalton Ponds in the heart of Carshalton's historic Conservation Area. The house dates to the 17th century with Victorian and Edwardian extensions, including a very fine billiards room. Permanent exhibitions tell the fascinating history of the house and the people who lived there, and illustrate the history of the Borough of Sutton and the development of Carshalton.
