Description

As part of this year's Heritage Open Days, make a visit to the Reedham Marshes Mills and Engines Group, one of the Broads most significant industrial heritage sites, now in the care of Norfolk Windmills Trust, a registered charity (no. 1033274).

  1. Polkey's Mill and the Reedham Marsh Engine Houses will be open for visitors 11:30 to 16:00.
  2. The site comprises three drainage windmills, one of which (Polkey's Mill) is restored to full working order and will be working, weather permitting.
  3. Tours of Polkey's Mill will be available in small groups.
  4. Access will also be available to the former Steam Engine House (no engine) and the Ruston and Hornsby diesel engines. Local history information will be available to view.
  5. Please note there is no vehicular access to the site. Visitors are welcome to make their own way on foot along the Wherryman's Way footpath from Reedham or Yarmouth directions. (From Reedham turn off Mill Hill by the Primary School onto Holly Farm Road and follow the Wherryman’s Way signs). There are also free moorings near the site.
  6. Alternatively, join our guided walk to the site from Reedham Village, along the Wherryman's Way leaving Reedham at 10.40. Please meet near the Lord Nelson Pub on Riverside at 10:30. Booking required for the guided walk only.
  7. Any questions, please email: norfolkmills@norfolk.gov.uk
