Friendly Londoners and Travellers go to London Square Open Gardens Weekend

For one very special weekend in June, London's hidden green spaces open their gates for public enjoyment and discovery.

If you would like to explore gardens which are usually closed to the public with a group of friendly people, you are welcome to join this event.

The route will be already planned. We will concentrate on walking around the central part of London and try to include the most popular gardens.

After seeing a few gardens, we will arrange a picnic in one of the gardens but it will probably be agreed on the day depending on the weather, etc.

Please understand that this activity is for members who would like to spend a day meeting new friends while walking and visiting gardens in London.

If you are interested in visiting your choice of gardens, doing your own itinerary or visiting gardens at your own pace, that event is not for you. Please understand that in a group, we have to prepare an itinerary prior to the event and that it is impossible to accommodate everyone with the choice of gardens. Also, we do not intend to visit as many gardens as possible, there are more than 100 gardens opened for the event, we intend to have some good time with friendly members while visiting some amazing gardens. Thank you for respecting the organisers choice.

At the moment, the plan is to visit the following gardens and picnic in one of them at around 1PM:

The Phoenix Garden WC2

Bedford Square WC1

Montague Street Gardens WC1

Lincoln’s Inn Gardens WC2

Barbican Wildlife Garden, Fann Street EC2

The Golden Baggers EC1

The itinerary can be changed depending on the weather, time spend in the gardens…

ON SATURDAY, WE WILL MEET AT 9:30AM IN FRONT OF THE FIRST GARDEN WE WILL VISIT AND WE WILL SPEND THE DAY TOGETHER.

We will walk, take buses and the underground. Make sure you have comfortable walking shoes and a waterproof jacket. You may need sunglasses and summer hat as well.

As the ticket is valid for 2 days, you can visit more gardens on Sunday.

I will add my itinerary on Sunday but everyone is free to join or leave me at any time.

On Sunday, all attendees could write in the group chat to visit gardens with other members, especially if you’d like to visit specific gardens or specific areas in London. You could also meet for picnic or drinks.

I already attended the London Square Open Gardens Weekend in 2019 and I cannot wait to do it again. I can also recommend some gardens to visit on Sunday. Just ask. I am particularly fond of rooftop gardens.

To limit the number of guests and make sure of your commitment to attend, a £3.00 fee is required to register to the event.
