We hope that you will be able to join us at our 2017 AGM and conference, to discover all that Visit Somerset, the official destination management organisation for the county of Somerset, has been working towards during 2017 and what the county's DMO has in store for 2018. This combined with members and businesses imparting case studies/training opportunities, making for a really informative day.

9.30 – 10.00 Registration for Members attending the AGM. Free Parking. Tea & Coffee on arrival.

10.00 – 10.30 Annual General Meeting - approval of annual accounts for Y/E 30th September 2017, Election of Directors and other Matters Arising.

10.30 – 11.00 Registration for those attending the Conference. Free Parking. Tea & Coffee.

11.00 – 11.30 Welcome by the Chairman of Visit Somerset, Hugh Cornwell, followed by a review by the CEO, John Turner, of Visit Somerset’s achievements during the past year, before setting out Visit Somerset’s plans for 2018.

11.30 – 11.45 Jo Hobbs and Sam Burton of D J Miles & Co, the importers of Fine Teas' and Coffee, who are based in Porlock. Visit Somerset combined with D J Miles & Co. have been the driving force behind “Buy Somerset” part of the county's DMO's Food & Drink strategy. They will be updating us on the "Buy Somerset" achievements to date and the expansion plans for 2018 and beyond.

11.45 – 12.00 "Giving the Customer What They Want" - A Case Study from The Bishops Palace, Wells, by Merryn Kidd, Marketing and Communications Manager, who will analyse the reasons behind the success of The Bishops Palace's recent marketing strategy.

12.00 – 12.40 Speed Networking – your chance to network with other conference participants, to obtain new insights and forge new relationships.

12.40 – 1.30 Lunch - showcasing the cuisine at The Mount Somerset Hotel, with an opportunity for a guided tour around the Mount Somerset. (Please advise of dietary requirements to Trish@visitsomerset.co.uk)

1.30 – 2.00 Robert Downes, Senior Tourism Officer for West Somerset, will review “The Achievements of the Hinkley Tourism Action Partnership" to date, followed by the development plans in the pipeline for Minehead and the county in 2018.

2.00 – 2.20 Hannah Lloyd and Tim Rigby of Element Skills Training, talk of their relationship with Visit Somerset and the EU funding being made available to help Visit Somerset members identify the skills and knowledge deficits in their organisations and provide members with training courses free of charge. The session will brief you as to how you can take advantage of these opportunities.

2.20 – 2.40 "Why and when you should use video to boost your business?" - James Chetwode and Keith Seward, of Compass Video, will demonstrate how to use video as a powerful marketing tool to showcase what you have to offer your customers.

2.40 Closing remarks - John Turner, CEO of Visit Somerset.
