Visit to Tintagel Castle excavations and Warbstow Bury
Sun 30 July 2017, 10:00 – 17:00 BST
This year CBA South West will be visiting Tintagel Castle and Warbstow Bury as part of the Festival of British Archaeology on the 30th July. Our day will begin at 10:00 meeting at the Tintagel Castle entrance, visitor centre, where Win Scutt, Assistant Properties Curator (West) for English Heritage, will lead us on a tour of the ongoing excavations of the site. After lunch, either at the site's café or bring your own, Win has very kindly offered to lead us on a tour of Warbstow Bury and we will meet in the site's car park at 15:00. More information about Warbstow Bury can be found here (http://services.english-heritage.org.uk/ResearchReportsPdfs/003_2014WEB.pdf) and the site is situated just outside of Warbstow, Launceston, Cornwall. PL15.
We will not be charging for this event, though there is a charge to gain entry into Tintagel Castle (http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/tintagel-castle/prices-and-opening-times) but obviously not for members of English Heritage, however due to numbers booking is essential.
Finally, though it will be summer we cannot guarantee the weather, so please be sure to wear weather appropriate attire, or at least carry it with you. Due to the rough terrain and steep steps at Tintagel Castle the wearing of good sturdy footwear is a must.
