Event description

Description

The University of Sheffield is pleased to announce that on the 10th and 11th of September 2018 the History Department will host the internationally renowned historian of emotion history Professor Barbara Rosenwein (Loyola University, Chicago). On the second day of this event Professor Rosenwein will preside over a workshop of panels and a round-table on 'Approaches to the History of Emotions'. Each of the three panels will contain papers by scholars who represent different methodological approaches including micro-history, wider cultural signficance and embodied emotions. The day will culminate in a round-table discussion with all participants about these different methodologies, exploring psychological, socio-linguistic, social-constructionist, material and many more approaches to the field. This is an invaluable opportunity to discuss your work and methodology with one of the foremost scholars in the field and meet with others who are working in the field but from different perspectives.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

There will be drinks afterwards at the Bath Hotel at 3.30pm.
