Visual Arts : Creating with clay
Exploring ideas with clay and natural materials
These workshops will support children to explore many different ways of making with clay. They can try coiling, rolling, pressing, pinching, printing, building, sculpting, squeezing or anything else that they would like to do.
Sessions are with professional artist, Clare Day, www.claredayceramics.com.
At the end of the sessions Clare will fire something in the kiln for children to take home. Everyone is welcome and all materials provided.
Benefits to children
The possibilities of what can be created in clay are endless and children can enjoy this freedom whilst forming their creations. Working with clay is also a multi-sensory activity as it can be manipulated in so many ways and is a great way for children to express their emotions. Clay work can be therapeutic, calming and most of all, fun.
