Event description

Description

JOINT SCS AND BSP LONDON LECTURE

Speaker Dr Garry Dix (CPL Aromas)

Synopsis
It is a commonly held view that the remaining senses of visually-impaired individuals become more acute – but is this just anecdotal, or is there any verifiable science behind the assumption? Focussing on the sense of smell, Dr Garry R. Dix (CPL Aromas) takes us through the research conducted in Mumbai and the UK to investigate this. We then move on to consider what practical implications this may have for the visually-impaired in terms of employment opportunities, using a revolutionary institution set up in Mumbai (COFVI, the College of Fragrance for the Visually Impaired) as an example of what can be achieved.

Biography
Dr Garry R. Dix works as a Regulatory Expert for the multinational fragrance manufacturer CPL Aromas and holds a Doctorate in Health Science. His role includes ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry guidelines, preparing and delivering training to customers and colleagues around the globe, and collaboration in cross-industry initiatives. Outside of work, he is a published children’s author who enjoys school and library visits when time permits.
