Visual Storytelling - International comparative analysis in government

How do we communicate analysis and insight to a non-technical audience?

The Cabinet Office’s International Comparison team faces this challenge when bringing a global perspective to UK policy priorities for customers including Number 10 and Cabinet.

In this session, we will share our multidisciplinary analytical approach to structuring customer requirements, data visualisation (using a range of software packages), dissemination, and accessibility. This approach underpins our ability to produce visually-engaging analysis and insight, described by the PHIA Evaluation Board as 'an early sight of the future of intelligence assessment'.

The session will include audience participation through polls and Q&A.

Learning outcomes

  • Understanding innovative methods of analysis
  • New ways of communicating analysis
  • New ways of engaging people in your work

The function brings together all members of the analytical professions as well as anyone or any team that produces analysis, evidence and research to support decision making in government.

The function does not remove the professional identities of each individual profession. It brings them together to be greater than the sum of its parts and to make efficiencies.
