10-10:15 Intro and set-up

10:30 - 11:30 On Discourse Analysis - cultural differences in communication and discussion of communication theories like the iceberg theory and the assumption pool theory

11:30 - 11:45 Break

11:45- 12:45 On Listening and On Pictures - how figurative/ literal images work; the significance of paying attention; the difference between story and narrative

12:45 - 1:30 Lunch

1:30 to 4:00 On Visual minutes - find your handwriting style and work with drawings​, you will have the opportunity to create a mural and put into practice the lessons taught during the day

4 - 4:30 Closing remarks

Tutors:

Beatrice Baumgartner-Cohen is an artist, illustrator and graphic facilitator. Her work includes illustration, visual minuting, graphic recording and artwork for animations. A trained glassblower, Beatrice has a BA(Hons) in Art and Design and an MA in Applied Linguistics (University of London). Her special interest is discourse styles in native and non-native speaker conversation. www.cohenbaum.com


Ariadne Radi Cor is a lettering artist, collage and postcard maker. She is studying English Literature at Goldsmiths University and has been working with CreativeConnection for the last 5 years as a graphic facilitator. Her interest is storytelling and metaphors and how these affect communication. www.chantillycream.co.uk


Federica Ciotti is an interdisciplinary artist working as an illustrator and graphic facilitator at live events. Her professional background includes academic research in social sciences, humanities and graphic design. She has a BA in Communication and a MA in Semiotics from the University of Bologna.
