VIVID PROJECTS & FLATPACK FESTIVAL PRESENTS
LIVE PERFORMANCE WITH SARAH ANGLISS
Vivid Projects is delighted to be working with Flatpack Festival to present some very special events focusing on the unsung story of the Birmingham Arts Lab, a sometimes itinerant and ferociously creative structure that is more relevant than ever for those in the arts today. Expect a bricolage of sounds, films and memories celebrating the anarchic spirit of late 60's and 70's; from post '68 revolutionary fervour to Rock Against Racism. Rare interviews with key players from the scene will be channelled via a Trevor Pitt audio installation.
The programme closes with an extraordinary performance from Sarah Angliss in the spirit of Bruce Lacey, where electronic music meets the uncanny. Sarah Angliss is a composer, thereminist and musical hacker who performs live with her own robots. Angliss's dreamlike music taps into her obsessions with obsolete machines, faded variety acts and the darkest European folk tales.

Vivid Projects, in partnership with Flatpack Festival, presents Sarah Angliss as part of 33 REVOLUTIONS, an eight month programme which takes the audience on a journey through film, print, performance and song, celebrating personal acts of protest and resistance from the dance floors of 70s NYC to the anti-institutional spirit of 1960s-70s Britain right up to the simmering Arab Spring and Occupy!
Revolution 04: Birmingham Arts Lab Sessions runs Thu 28 - Sat 30 Mar, open 12-5pm and closes with Angliss's live performance on Sat 30 Mar, 7pm.
