Overview

A Virtual Learning Café (VLC) run by the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) as part of our YEF Evidence in Practice series.

Join us for a purposeful and insight-rich Virtual Learning Café as we launch the Youth Endowment Fund’s Youth Sector Practice Guidance—an important new resource designed to strengthen how the youth sector prevents violence and supports young people to thrive.

This session brings together leaders, commissioners, funders and sector influencers to explore what the latest evidence tells us, and what action is needed to improve outcomes for children and reduce youth violence.

What You Will Learn

What 11,000 children told us about their experiences of violence
Hear insights from one of the largest youth voice studies in England and Wales, offering a powerful picture of how young people encounter and understand violence.

What works in the youth sector to prevent violence
Explore evidence on the most effective youth sector approaches, and what this means for local authority commissioners, place-based funders, police and crime commissioners, and those leading community investment in housing.

First time Youth Sector Guidance focused on eight evidence-based recommendations
Gain a clear understanding of the new guidance, structured under three themes:

  • Right Children – ensuring support reaches those who need it most
  • Right Foundations – opportunity to future proof current action
  • Right Approaches – investing in effective practice
  • Reaching children from minority ethnic backgrounds

The impact of youth club closures on violence and crime
Review the data on how declining access to open-access youth provision is shaping trends in violence and crime.

Insight from national youth sector influencers
Hear about the Youth Sector Practice Guidance Strategic Advisory Group, who have helped shape the development of the practice guidance and its recommendations.
