TEACHERS

Alesandra Seutin (Vocab Dance) - Acogny Technique/Contemporary African with live drummers

"The body. Timing. Grounding. Pulse. Expression. Vibe. Strength. Sensation. Structure. Flow. Connection. The freedom of the body through discipline. That is Acogny Technique. "

Alesandra Seutin, internationally recognised, wonderful, powerful artist of the African Diaspora, will lead a Contemporary African dance class based on the technique founded by the "Mother of African Contemporary Dance" Germaine Acogny with live music.

Acogny Technique is an African Contemporary dance technique that synthesises traditional African dances, primarily Senegal and Benin, and Western modern dance techniques. Acogny Technique is the only codified and most recognised African dance technique.

Mbulelo Ndabeni (N'da) – Afro - Cunningham (Afro-Modern Fusion)

Mbulelo Ndabeni is a former dancer for Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake and Rambert Dance and hailing from Cape Town, South Africa.                             Mbulelo will lead you in physical and elegant class which will involve a fusion of Cunningham Technique's lines, torso twists, fast changes of directions in space with the grounded, rhytmically complex, fluidity and curvilinear style of Southern African dance.

The significant factors for the workshop is to develop the dancers creative mind, drive from passion, determination, strength, musicality and most importantly an intention/honesty in whatever choice they make throughout the session.

Nandi Bhebhe & Alesandra Seutin - Vocab Dance

A company workshop focusing on Vocab Dance's work, which the movement vocabulary draws from a good story and a fresh fusion of urban, contemporary and Southern/Central African dances. You will be living in the movement, playing, grooving, using body, and voices to the sounds of an amazing drumkit!

Alesandra Seutin/Vocab Dance Company

Vocab Dance Company is dynamic and talented young company founded by Alesandra Seutin in 2007 and was created with the vision of fusing African traditional dance with contemporary dance and urban dance forms to distinctly create Afropean dance theatre from a feminine perspective.

Since its inception VDC has been is gaining recognition by performing nationally and internationally, and is progressively making marks as an influential company to watch.

Alesandra Seutin/Vocab Dance Company embraces the idea that individuals have the power to live in the movement and to express themselves boldly. The objective of the workshops they teach is for the participants to find their level of challenge, comfort and to take part regardless of their abilities; whilst appreciating the joy of movement. All classes encourage participants to dance fully and live in the movement accompanied by a pulsating mix of live music or great-recorded music!
