Kevin Fitzsimmons & Leon Greening

“Lovers of jazz vocal have another star to follow” Jazzwise

Influenced by blues and long a fan of Mark Murphy/Mel Torme, powerfully-voiced London-born jazz singer Kevin Fitzsimmons delivers an exhilarating evening of inventive jazz vocals, placing his band’s long-time pianist, the highly rated Leon Greening (“stands in the ranks of the greatest” The Jazz Mann) at the centre of his performances. Praised by jazz critics for his original improvising, naturally swinging vocals & highly personable stage presence, he has stamped his mark so far with two critically-acclaimed albums, sellouts at Ronnie Scott’s and venues in UK's south & in Europe, and a live one hour concert broadcast on Jazz FM’s Discovery Series.

He plays many of the UK's top jazz clubs, including likes of The 606 Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho and has played two of Europe's most prestigious festivals: Cheltenham Jazz Festival and EFG London Jazz Festival. Great to watch and a delight to listen to, he sings insightful re-stylings of standards from likes of Mark Murphy, Mel Torme, Kurt Elling, Chet Baker, George Benson, inspired new jazz/jazz-blues arrangements of pop/soul recordings from likes of Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Sam Cooke, George Michael, and original songs.

“He makes a cover sound like a jazz original with no other provenance” Jazz Journal
“Unique interpretations, unique personality, superb presence, a brilliant gig” Jazz Nights
“A singer and band that deserves to be listened to” Bebop Spoken Here

with Leon Greening: piano • Jeremy Shoham: sax • Phil Scragg: bass • Rick Finlay: drums

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is on-street parking in the roads round the pub.
Colindale underground station (Northern Line) is a short walk away.

Can I pay on the night?
Yes, for those who haven't pre-booked there is a collection at the interval (although you won't be entitled to the discount on meals). We do expect you to contribute the normal admission fee unless you qualify for a concessionary rate…

Are there any concessions?
There is a lower ticket price for students in full-time education. Students and unwaged can also turn up on the night and pay whatever you like (or even nothing). We want you to be able to enjoy the music, and maybe you'll come back and pay the full admission in better times…

Deaf and disabled people can apply for an extra ticket, free of charge, if they would be unable to attend a gig or outdoor event without the active support of another person.
We encourage our audience to book online (we are too small to have a full-time box office) but if you have any difficulties booking on Eventbrite just call us on 020 8361 0265.

The Chandos Arms welcomes assistance dogs (or indeed all friendly dogs) on leads

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Don’t hesitate to call Rick at Just East of Jazz on 020 8361 0265 for questions about the gig.
For queries about the pub — food, drink, access and so on, call the pub on 020 8200 0032.
