Voicing Shakespeare: Finding your Authentic Shakespeare Voice
A 3-part course connecting vocal expression to the words of Shakespeare.
Monday 1 August 10:00am - 1:00pm
Monday 15 August 10:00am - 1:00pm
Monday 29 August 10:00am - 1:00pm
Shakespeare’s language demands a free, expressive and articulate voice to be spoken with full effect, and to bring his characters fully to life.
Over 3 Mondays in August, Dewi Hughes and Lizzie Conrad Hughes will take you through the essentials of exploring and developing your voice. The three sessions of three hours will cover expressing Shakespeare through single words, whole lines and complete thoughts. This enables the speaker to use their voice effectively and boldly, and to find their own authentic voice with the text.
Each class will open with a full, comprehensive vocal and physical warm up, before the voice is applied to text.
Participants will go away with:
- A reliable and supportive system of vocal exercises
- Greater confidence in connecting to Shakespeare’s language
- A practical and effective way to speak Shakespeare
Strictly no refunds. Places are also non-transferable. Your place is your place so you can't personally pass it on to someone else.
Be punctual, please. Class can only start properly with everyone there.
