Event description

Description

Be a dragon on National Citizen Service (NCS) this Summer in Surrey!!

As a Dragon for one of our Dragons’ Den Pitches on our NCS programme you will see between 5-7 teams of 15 to 17 year olds who will pitch to you and the other Dragons thier ideas for improving their community (all funding is provided by NCS). Your role will be to give the teams feedback and decide on how much funding to give them.

There ideas will be directly linked to a local charity, with the aim of raising awareness of that organisation and highlighting the issues they address.

What would be my role as a Dragon?

  • You will be encouraged to challenge any aspect you feel needs further thought and planning, and decide how much of the £30 you will award them.

  • What conditions, if any you want to place on the granting of the funds – (e.g. showing commitment by attending the meetings; promoting their Social Action to the community; they must sharpen their idea.)

  • Provide feedback to the groups on their project ideas and communicate your financial decision.

Preliminary timetable for the day:

- Please arrive at the venue by 1.45pm for a briefing with the Assistant Programme Manager who will run through your role and will be available to answer any questions you have.

2:00 – 3.00: The Pitch

Teams present their Social Action Projects to you. During the pitch you will have:

  • A scoring sheet to help structure your notes.

  • Time to ask questions after each presentation.

3.15 – 3.40: Deliberation

As Dragons, you will make a group decision about:

  • How much money to give the teams to deliver their projects. The amount you agree to award a team depends on how convincing the team’s pitch is.

(The money given to teams will be funded by NCS - there is ZERO finanical cost to yourself - we want your valuable opinions & a little of your valuable time)

  • Any conditions you want to place on the teams’ funding.

3.40 – 4.00: The Decision

Provide feedback to teams and communicate your financial decision.

If you are interested then please book onto one of the dates and a member of our staff will be in contact with more details and venue locations! (Various dates in July & August) Opportunies are based in various areas across Surrey.
