Description

Be a dragon on National Citizen Service (NCS) this Summer - 2018!!

“I was blown away. It was amazing to see the range of causes they thought about. They presented with a passion which was great. They believed in what they were saying and they were truly impressive” Andy Burnham MP

As a Dragon for one of our Dragons’ Den Pitches on our NCS programme you will see between 5-7 teams of 15 to 17 year olds who will pitch to you and the other Dragons their ideas for improving their community (all funding is provided by NCS). Your role will be to give the teams feedback and decide on how much funding to give them.

The Dragons’ Den Pitch comes at the end of an intense few days of planning in which the young people have learnt a lot about themselves and have challenged themselves to develop personally. They have also explored how they can have a positive impact on their communities by being active citizens.

Each team has been planning a social action project. They now have the chance to present their strategy and ideas to you so they can turn their plans into a reality. On this day you make a huge difference in two ways:

- Your questions & feedback help improve the quality of Social Action projects.

- Your presence as part of an influential panel of Dragons demonstrates to the young people that their Social Action projects are important, and this encourages accountability.

Preliminary timetable for the day

- Please arrive at the venue at 1.30pm

An Assistant Programme Manager will run through your role and will be available to answer any questions you have.

2:00 – 3.00: The Pitch

Teams present their Social Action Projects to you. During the pitch you will have:

  • A scoring sheet to help structure your notes.
  • Time to ask questions after each presentation.

3.00 – 3.30: Deliberation

As Dragons, you will make a group decision about:

  • How much money to give the teams to deliver their projects. The amount you agree to award a team depends on how convincing the team’s pitch is.

(The money given to teams will be funded by NCS - there is ZERO finanical cost to yourself - we want your valuable opinions & a little of your valuable time)

  • Any conditions you want to place on the teams’ funding.

3.30 – 4.00: The Decision

Provide feedback to teams and communicate your financial decision.

And that's it........ Your job is done!!

If interested - please book onto the event by chosing one of the 12 possible dates and a member of the team will be in touch very soon! Opportunies to be a Dragon are available across all London boroughs!
