Event description
How Covid has changed the volunteer experience and how we move forwards

About this event

Our lives have changed in numerous ways since March 2020 and what constitutes normality is still evolving and uncertain.

This is particularly true of the volunteer experience: so many roles have closed or evolved to become 'virtual' or very different from how they were. New roles opened, new volunteers joined to help the Covid response and teams changed, staff who had been present were furloughed and some volunteers were forced to stop volunteering due to their own health.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that it is likely that an established volunteer may find that the role they loved has now morphed into something very different. This presents a real challenge for organisations to try to ensure that volunteers' feedback can be gathered so that they feel heard and understood and can voice any concerns about these changes. Ideally this feedback can then form the basis of a plan as to how volunteers can be involved in a way that helps them to still feel motivated and engaged, however long they have been volunteering.

This Forum aims to give Volunteer Coordinators, or anyone with responsibility for recruiting and managing volunteers, an opportunity to look at these challenges and share ideas and thoughts about how we can try to understand the volunteer's experience and find ways to help volunteers continue to feel very much part of the organisations they support.

This event is for Richmond not-for-profit, social enterprise and community groups only.

If you are unsure if you qualify for a fully subsidised place at this event, please call before booking.
