Volunteer Interpreter to Support Employability Courses

Make a Real Difference – Help People Build Their Future in the UK

Are you fluent in Arabic, Kurdish Sorani, Romanian, or Urdu and have a good level of English? We're looking for friendly, compassionate volunteers to help learners engage with our employability sessions and take their first steps towards meaningful work in the UK.

About the Programme

Transform is working in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver our highly successful Steps Towards Work programme, funded by UKSPF. We've already supported hundreds of people—including Hong Kong (BNO) visa holders and individuals from Arabic-speaking nations—helping them to:

  • Understand UK working culture
  • Learn how to search and apply for jobs
  • Develop vital skills to secure the employment they want

Our training sessions are interactive, engaging, and proven to work—100% of attendees say they'd recommend our training to others.

Now we need your help to support people from Arabic-speaking nations, Kurdish Sorani, Romanian, and Urdu-speaking communities to get a job in the UK—a job they truly want.

What You'll Do

As a volunteer interpreter, you'll play a crucial role in breaking down language barriers and opening doors to employment. Attendees will have basic English skills, but may need additional support to fully participate—and that's where you come in.

Your role will involve:

  • Working alongside attendees during sessions
  • Providing translation and interpretation support
  • Helping participants with tasks and activities
  • Ensuring everyone gets the most out of the course
  • Creating a welcoming, inclusive environment

What You'll Gain

This is more than just volunteering—it's an opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience, including:

  • Practical interpreting experience in a professional setting
  • Enhanced communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Something meaningful to add to your CV
  • The satisfaction of helping others achieve their goals

Ready to Get Involved?

If you're passionate about helping others and want to use your language skills to make a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Together, we can help more people build confidence, find work, and thrive in their new community.
