Our volunteers are vital in helping us provide starter packs for newborn babies in vulnerable situations.

Frequently asked questions

What days are your volunteering sessions?

We have weekly sessions in Wollaston on a Thursday from 9.30-1.30 and every other Monday from 9.30-1.30. We are starting a new session at the Kairos Centre from 9.30-12.30 every other Monday.

What happens at the volunteering session?

You can help with sorting donations, sorting clean clothes, making up starter packs and lots more besides! Every activity helps us provide starter packs for newborns in vulnerable situtions.

What do Baby Basics Northampton do?

We provide moses basket starter packs for newborns in vulnerable situations. These ensure that baby has a safe place to sleep and they are packed full with clothing and essential toiletries for baby and essential toiletries for the mum-to-be.

I can't attend every session, can I still volunteer?

Absolutely! We encourage regular participation so that skills and knowledge are kept up to date but we appreciate that you are gifting your time to us.

I'm nervous about volunteering. What can I expect?

We are truly grateful to our volunteer team and work hard to ensure that our volunteer sessions are welcoming and friendly! It's also very rewarding to take part in activities that directly impact the lives of so many families across the county and ease the pressure on referrers too.

I can't help during weekday working hours. Are there other ways to volunteer?

Absolutely! We're always looking for support at community events where you can help spread the word about the work of Baby Basics Northampton and help with fundraising activities e.g. tombolas, nearly new sales etc.

What skills can I offer you?

No experience is needed to volunteer, just a willingness to get involved! If you have specific skills you'd like to offer e.g. photography, marketing, finance, HR etc. please let us know. As a small charity we can always benefit from the expertise others can share with us :)
