Description
An evening of films, discussion, music, spoken word, and pizza.
We at Cinema for All are celebrating the centenary of women’s suffrage in our favourite way: through the magic of film! We’ve commissioned - from the Yorkshire, North East and North West Film Archives - a wonderful new short film made up of archive material charting the story of women in British public life over the last 100 years.
Join us for a screening of the 15-minute short, which will be accompanied by live music from Dream Nails, spoken word from Louise Fazackerley, discussions about what the future of the UK holds for women, and more fantastic short films made by brilliant women. Oh, and free pizza.
“What are your demands?”
This is the question we will be asking our panellists: Claire Pierson (University of Liverpool), Cynthia Monteverde (Michael Causer Foundation, Betterdays Homes, Anna Rothery (Mayoral Lead for Equality and Race Equality) and chair Gemma Bird (University of Liverpool)
It is also the question we will be asking YOU, as we settle down to put the world to rights and watch a screening of Ken Loach’s classic Cathy Come Home.
After the film, performance poet Louise Fazackerley (winner of the Radio 3 Verb New Voices award) will grace us with some of her funny and thought-provoking work, followed by favourite girl crushes, punk witches Dream Nails.
