We are delighted to invite you to contribute to our Voyage of Discovery on Tuesday 26 May, 2015 at Out of the Blue (the Drill Hall) on Leith Walk. Over the afternoon and evening we will be celebrating the projects in which the community and universities in Edinburgh come together through research and student community engagement. Our voyage of discovery will help inspire you to try new approaches to engagement and explore how to find new collaborative partners.
This is a collaborative event between the Beltane Public Engagement Network and the Student Community Engagement Project at the University of Edinburgh.
Arrive at Out of the Blue Drill Hall, Leith. Boarding Ship begins at 1:30pm. Meet your crew and fellow passengers, enjoy light refreshments with Tea and Coffee. At 2:00 we will come together on the main deck. From 2:30 to 5:00pm there will be various activities, workshops and presentations to explore, as well as opportunities to network with fellow passengers. PLEASE NOTE, THERE IS NO BOARDING PRIOR TO 1:30PM

2:00pm Set sail & Excursion 1 - Your journey starts here
2:30pm Activity 1 - Choose from a number of breakout sessions
3:15pm Activity 2 - Choose from a number of breakout sessions
4:00pm Meet your fellow passengers - Time to network over more refreshments or attend a session on Storytelling and Research
Activity 1 choices include: Students and Food, Art and Architechture, Science Ceilidh Workshop and Students, sport, tea and art.
Activity 2 choices include: Community Led Engagement , Students and Science in Schools , Doing Publics Workshop, and Community Based Learning
There will also be opportunities to find out about various projects through posters, exhibits, films and demonstration during the networking sessions.

We’re underway during Supper, which starts at 5pm on the main deck. We’ll be joined by new passengers and there will be opportunities to hear some inspirational talks, explore exhibitions and meet new people. 8pm Transfers to taxi ranks/bus stops/homes
5:00pm Waypoint & Excursion 2 - We welcome new passengers and start our second excursion
5:15pm A view from the crow's nest - A plenary session looking at the UK wide context and activities
6:00pm Grub and grog - More networking over food and drinks or watch a film
6:45pm Parley - Time to think and talk about important issues for Edinburgh or find out how to engage rural communities
7:30pm Creating convoys - Hear how some people are approaching partnership working
8:00pm Drop anchor & disembarkation - Time to leave

PLEASE NOTE: Itinerary may change due to weather (not really!) and/or to find wildlife (great projects/speakers). We are always looking to give you the very best experience. And being a responsive crew enables us to do this.
The main audience for the Gathering is staff and students from universities in Edinburgh and the community partners they have been collaborating with. We also welcome people not associated with higher education institutions who would like to engage with Edinburgh’s universities.
