This course is for:

  • Individual Researchers & Research Managers

You'll learn:

  • Track the public outreach of your research, and get to know your societal audience.

  • Learn the societal audience of the journal you want to submit your paper.

  • Learn about the importance of interconnected information & your interactions with social media, blogs, journalists and other sources outside the scientific community referencing to you or your work.

  • Find potential industry partners working in similar research area's.

At the end of the course you have:

  • an independend open researcher profile

  • an alert on mentions on your work from social/news media, blogs, and policy documents

  • a profile of your online audience (reach & sources)

  • an audience profile of the journal you want to publish in (reach & sources)

Tools you'll learn:

main:

  • altmetric (intl. News, blogs policy documents)
  • scival (industrial partners)
  • unpaywall (open acess)

optional (tbd):

  • sms risis (partnerships in eu-projects)
  • buzzcapture (NL news)

recommended basic knowledge:

  • PURE
  • MS Excel
  • MS Access

Practicals:

  • bring your own laptop/notebook. (only 6 PC available in room)
  • limit to 14 people in room
