Vulcan to the Sky: a talk by John Sharman, in aid of Chiswick RNLI
Tue 25 April 2017, 19:30 – 22:30 BST
The legendary Vulcan XH 558 was once the UK's first line of defence against nuclear attack, and the last airworthy example of the 134 Avro Vulcan delta-winged strategic nuclear bomber aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force during the Cold War.
Join us for a fascinating personal insight from the man responsible for the restoration of this iconic aircraft, through its final years of enormous popularity, to its sad decommission in 2015, and hear a bit about what's next for the Vulcan to the Sky Trust.
Our speaker, John Sharman, was a founding director of Spectrum Capital, which financed most of the British Airways fleet, organised the financing of the NATS buyout and the iconic Millenium Wheel, and was for several years a Director and then Chairman of Aer Lingus.
