The South West Anti-Slavery Partnership will be hosting an event on 19th March 2020 in Exeter, Devon.

To add value to existing work ongoing in the sector, the event will focus on the increasing complexity of Modern Slavery cases noted by professionals working in this area.

We aim to educate frontline workers about Modern Slavery and how they can recognise and respond to it, but to also start a conversation about how Modern Slavery is operating currently in the South West – and to build on the established indicators and manifestations of exploitation.

Key note speakers will explore how Modern Slavery is presenting in our local areas and attendees will consider through workshops how to foster positive multi-agency responses to the challenges that they face in supporting victims of trafficking.

The day will be split to consider how frontline staff encounter potential victims before entry into the National Referral Mechanism (NRM), the support that victims require during NRM service, and their support needs and vulnerability after they have left government funded support.

This will be particularly relevant to frontline workers from the homeless sector, refugee support services, community and grassroot organisations who may come into contact with potential victims as part of their day to day role.

The challenges and best practice captured throughout the day will be recorded and used to shape the agenda of the regional Anti-Slavery Partnership in 2020.

We would welcome frontline staff from your organisation to attend in either Exeter or Bristol.

For more information please contact coordinator@aspartnership.org.uk.

The event is free to attend.
