W1 Curates presents Digital Prophecy: From Canvas to Code by Trevor Jones

Digital Prophecy: From Canvas to Code is a landmark retrospective tracing Trevor Jones’ transformation from traditional painter to leading voice in the Web3 art world. Presented at W1 Curates, this exhibition captures a pivotal moment in the artist’s career; looking back at seven years of Web3 artistic innovation while offering a first glimpse into what comes next. The opening night will feature a special panel talk with Trevor Jones in conversation with Adam Cain (Studio & Technical Manager, W1 Curates), discussing Trevor's art and the evolution of his practice from canvas to code.

Beginning with Jones’ entry into Web3 in 2018 through his groundbreaking CryptoDisruption solo exhibition of AR-enhanced oil paintings, and moving into NFTs in 2019, the show presents key works that capture his deepening engagement with digital identity, market forces, and the artist’s role in a shifting technological landscape. While rooted in traditional oil painting, Jones’ practice has expanded to include animation, sculpture, storytelling, AI tools, and immersive worldbuilding.

At the heart of Digital Prophecy is a commitment to narrative. Across all works, Jones engages with three recurring themes that now define his creative vision: Tech/AI surveillance, religion/faith, and rebellion. These ideas run through the entire exhibition and offer a clear signal of where Jones is headed next.

The W1 Curates exhibition serves as a conceptual and visual bridge to EXPOS3D, Jones’ most ambitious project to date, opening in Edinburgh this October. EXPOS3D will combine large-scale oil paintings, AR, projection, installation, and AI livestreaming to create a fully immersive experience. W1 Curates will host the world debut of Messiah 2.0, a live-streaming, AI-integrated oil painting and the first official work from the EXPOS3D series.

Digital Prophecy is a retrospective that marks a turning point. It charts the path of a traditional oil painter embracing digital tools to challenge convention and expand what painting can mean in the age of machines.

On opening night (7 August), attendees will have the opportunity to mint a unique visual moment captured from the AI live-streamed painting experience. Tickets for this event are limited.
