Treasures in Special Collections
Join us for this late opening at the Special Collections to visit one of the lesser known parts of the University Library. During this event you will discover some of the most exciting objects held in the collection and get the chance to hear their own stories from the librarians and archivists. You’ll be able to see the first edition of Jane Austen’s 'Pride and Prejudice', read political election materials from the 19th century onwards and discover some of the diverse treasures which we hold.
Museums at night
This year, the Theatre Collection, the Earth Sciences Collection, Special Collections and the Botanic Garden are taking part in Museums at Night, an annual UK-wide festival that celebrates the arts, culture and heritage.
From the 16 -18 May 2013 hundreds of museums, galleries and heritage sites across the UK will be opening their doors after hours for special evening events. The University collections have prepared some exciting events for those days, involving ghosts, glowing stones, hidden life in plants and diverse treasures.
Events at the Theatre Collection and the Special Collections require advance booking. Please select your desired event and time when booking.
