Enjoy a walk round Pugneys lake, Sunday 17 May, 11.00am to remember loved ones affected by dementia and raise funds for Alzheimer's Society.

About this Event

Join us for a walk around Pugneys Country Park lake on Sunday 17th May 2020 at 11.00am, together with family and friends, to remember loved ones who are no longer with us, to celebrate everyone who has been affected by dementia and to raise vital funds for Alzheimer's Society.

The Walk is being opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Wakefield, Councillor Charles Keith and Mrs Grace Keith and starts at 11.00am even if it is raining! This will be a fun walk around the lake, with additional stalls.

There are toilets, a cafe and parking on site - please note that car parking charges do apply (please contact Pugneys for more information about the facilities - 01924 302360).

You don't have to wear anything special, but please come in suitable footwear and dressed for all weathers. If you would like to purchase an Alzheimer's Society T-shirt, or any other product please go to www.shop.alzheimers.org.uk and select 'branded products'.

The route is wheelchair and pushchair accessible and there will be volunteer marshals on site. Please feel free to bring your dog, but please keep it on a lead at all times .

If you would like to donate through JustGiving, please go to www.JustGiving.com and 'search ' for

Wakefield Memory Walk 2020

If you would like to ask friends and family to donate via a sponsor form please email memorywalk.wakefield@outlook.com. There will be plenty of opportunity to donate on the day through the collection buckets or at the donations desk. Please collect a free bottle of water, a forget-me-not flower badge - the symbol of our Wakefield Memory Walk, an 'I'm Walking For ...' label and safety pins from the gazebos opposite the reception building. Here you will also find a 'Memory Heart' on which to write the name of your loved one to hang on our special Memory Tree.

If you would like to assist our fundraising there is a Tombola and Notcutts Garden Centre are raffling a bistro table and chair set for two - raffle to be drawn on the day.

People will be called for the Walk at 10.50am at a point just past reception and it will take place in an anticlockwise direction. It will finish at approximately 13.30 pm at the end of the 'Trim Trail' where volunteers will be handing out certificates. The walk does not go through the car park.

Thank you. For every step you take and every pound you donate you will be giving hope to thousands of people living each day with dementia or affected by it - there are almost 5,000 people in Wakefield District currently diagnosed with dementia.

If you have any further queries please email memorywalk.wakefield@outlook.com or phone 07342119774.
