The 2019 Wales Africa Health Conference

The event is in partnership with Wales for Africa Health Links Network and the International Health Coordination Centre.

The ever popular conference returns for its 13th year! Come and join us for a great networking and learning opportunity. Its not just for health workers - anyone who is active in the Wales for Africa Program probably has an impact on health somewhere. Most of what keeps people healthy or makes them sick are the wider determinants of health: environment, livelihoods, poverty, food, education....

This year, we have felt challenged by the Welsh Government’s recent declaration of a climate crisis. Should we be sending people and stuff backwards and forwards on planes quite so much? How can we reach the poorest and have the biggest impacts with the smallest environment costs? What do we know about how to prevent and mitigate the health impacts of climate change?

We will hear from Dr Waheed Arian, who set up the charitable Foundation Arian Teleheal that buddies doctors in conflict zones with colleagues all over the globe for advice and support, using smartphones, instant messaging and video chat.

We will hear from Prof Rajan Madhok about the wonderful Peoples Uni, who have for ten years been providing Masters level education in low income countries through a web platform. To get you started on our theme, you can do their open online course on Climate Change and Public Health here.

There will be 10 workshops on a multitude of topics: the migrant health workforce, disability inclusion, respectful maternity care, global citizenship, practical first aid, placements in Africa, health and sustainability, data in low income settings, distance learning, the Charter for International Health Partnerships.

The conference will be opened by the Minister for Health and Social Services, Mr Vaughan Gething AM. He is also hosting a meeting the following day for invited participants from the 5 Nations on the Welsh approach to international health, so we will be asking you to give us your message for the Minister. We will collate and pass them on.

Cynhadledd Iechyd Cymru o blaid Affrica 2019

Mae'r digwyddiad mewn partneriaeth â Cysylltiadau Cymru o Blaid Affrica a'r Canolfan Ryngwladol Cydlynu Iechyd.

Mae'r gynhadledd fythol boblogaidd yn dychwelyd ar gyfer ei 13eg flwyddyn! Dewch i ymuno â ni am gyfle rhwydweithio a dysgu gwych. Nid ar gyfer gweithwyr iechyd yn unig-mae unrhyw un sy ' n weithgar yn y rhaglen Cymru o blaid Affrica yn debygol o gael effaith ar iechyd yn rhywle. Y rhan fwyaf o'r hyn sy'n cadw pobl yn iach neu'n eu gwneud yn sâl yw penderfynyddion ehangach iechyd: yr Amgylchedd, bywoliaeth, tlodi, bwyd, addysg....

Eleni, rydym wedi teimlo'n heriwyd gan ddatganiad diweddar Llywodraeth Cymru am argyfwng hinsawdd. A ddylen ni anfon pobl a stwff yn ôl ac ymlaen ar awyrennau yn eithaf gymaint? Sut y gallwn gyrraedd y tlotaf a chael yr effeithiau mwyaf gyda'r costau amgylcheddol lleiaf? Beth rydym yn ei wybod am sut i atal a lliniaru effeithiau newid yn yr hinsawdd ar iechyd?

Cawn glywed gan Dr Waheed arian, a sefydlodd y sefydliad elusennol arian Teleheal sy'n cyfeillio meddygon mewn parthau gwrthdaro gyda chydweithwyr o bob cwr o'r byd am gyngor a chymorth, gan ddefnyddio ffonau clyfar, negeseua gwib a sgwrs fideo.

Byddwn yn clywed gan yr Athro Rajan Madhok am y bobol wych, sydd wedi bod am ddeng mlynedd yn darparu addysg lefel Meistr mewn gwledydd incwm isel drwy blatfform gwe. Er mwyn i chi ddechrau ar ein thema, gallwch wneud eu cwrs ar-lein agored ar newid yn yr hinsawdd ac iechyd y cyhoedd yma.

Bydd 10 gweithdy ar lu o bynciau: y gweithlu iechyd mudol, cynhwysiant anabledd, gofal mamolaeth parchus, dinasyddiaeth fyd-eang, cymorth cyntaf ymarferol, lleoliadau yn Affrica, iechyd a chynaladwyedd, data mewn lleoliadau incwm isel, pellter dysgu, y Siarter ar gyfer partneriaethau iechyd rhyngwladol.

Bydd y gynhadledd yn cael ei hagor gan y Gweinidog Iechyd a gwasanaethau cymdeithasol, Mr Vaughan Gething ac. Mae hefyd yn cynnal cyfarfod y diwrnod canlynol ar gyfer cyfranogwyr gwadd o ' r 5 Gwlad ar ddull Cymru o ymdrin ag iechyd rhyngwladol, felly byddwn yn gofyn ichi roi eich neges i ni ar ran y Gweinidog. Byddwn yn eu coladu a'u trosglwyddo.
